Does the ADR Association conduct Mediation Training?

The ADR Association of Barbados provides Mediation Skills Training for organisations and groups on request and, from time to time, offers Professional Mediation Certification programmes in collaboration with reputable accredited institutions such as Kennesaw State University.

The Association is currently in a period of renewal and programme development. Training offerings will be announced as they become available. Please contact us for further information or to express interest in future training opportunities.

Does the Mediation Training make me a Mediator?

Mediation training provides participants with an introduction to the principles, skills, and processes used in mediation, including practical role-play exercises and simulated mediation scenarios.

While the training is an important first step, completing a course alone does not automatically make someone a recognised Mediator. Recognition by the ADR Association of Barbados Inc. generally requires either completion of the Professional Mediators Certification programme offered by the Association, or completion of both Basic and Advanced Mediation Training, together with successful assessments and a specified number of supervised practicums or real mediation matters.

What is the Cost of Training?

The ADR Association of Barbados aims to provide accessible and competitively priced mediation training. Costs vary based on the level and format of the training programme. Please contact us for current training fees and upcoming opportunities.

Does the ADR Association do mediations also?

Y es. The ADR Association of Barbados can connect parties with qualified mediators to facilitate mediation services. Individuals and organisations may select a mediator from our panel and contact the mediator directly based on the nature of the dispute and the services required.

We also offer a Community Mediation Programme at a reduced cost. This programme provides mediation services through both experienced and newly trained mediators. Under the Community Mediation Programme, mediators are assigned to matters and parties are not able to select a specific mediator.
